Bennett and Albert County Health Care Foundation Staff Education Fund Policy

Purpose

The Bennett and Albert County Health Care Foundation encourage the professional development of employees of the Horizon Health Network who work at the Albert County Community Health Centre. The Foundation believes that the entire centre’s operation is improved by enabling key employees to become educated about advancements in areas that have been identified as priorities by the organization.

Policy

  • In order to ensure equitable treatment of all requests and to ensure fairness and reason in resource allocation, all applications for funding must be approved by the centre’s manager prior to submission to the foundation. All applications forwarded for consideration should support the vision and mission of the Horizon Health Network, that of the Bennett and Albert County Health Care Foundation and benefit the Albert County Community Health Centre.

  • Proposals must include information about how knowledge gained will benefit the centre, it's clients and how it will be shared with others and/or be implemented by the centre.

  • Funds available per candidate will be influenced by the total amount of funding made available by the foundation, the number of qualified applicants and the recommendation of the Facility Manager regarding priority.

  • Applicants may apply for assistance to attend courses, seminars, workshops or conferences.

  • Applications may be submitted at anytime throughout the year.

  • For those pursuing professional degree or certification programs, funding maybe granted up to a maximum of 80% of the total cost, not to exceed $1,500 per applicant per academic year. Payment will be made on proof of successful completion of the course. Applicants who are granted amounts in excess of $1000 will be required to sign a letter of commitment to remain employed by the Albert County Community Health Centre for a minimum of 12 months following completion of the program.

  • Successful applicants are required to notify the foundation of any other funding assistance they have applied for or are receiving.

  • Applications to attend seminars, workshops or conferences will be assessed on an individual basis in consultation with the Facility Manager and may be granted up to 100% of the requested funding.

    Procedure

  • Applications must be received in writing on the approved form.

    Registration and reservations:

  • Successful candidates are required to complete a Horizon Health Network Professional Development Application form indicating on the form that funds have been awarded by the Bennett and Albert County Health Care Foundation and attaching their acceptance letter from the foundation. Registration and travel arrangements are to be made through the appropriate administrative process.

    Claiming Expenses:

  • Upon completion of the program or training the applicant should fill out a Horizon Health Network travel claim form. The corporation will make all appropriate disbursements on behalf of or to the applicant and bill the Bennett and Albert County Health Care Foundation accordingly.

  • Claims should conform with guidelines set forth by the travel policy of the Horizon Health Network.
